The power of music and sound; its ability to uplift, soothe and bring connection to the soul, has always fascinated Karen. But it was not until she had a Sound Massage on a yoga retreat that she realised the potential of sound and vibration as a source of transformation.
As a result of this experience, she moved on from her previous job as a teacher of art and trained with Christine Heckel in Spain to become a practitioner in the Peter Hess Method of Sound Massage. After experiencing a similarly profound response to the sound and vibrations of the gong she also trained to become a Gong Practitioner.
Over the years as a practitioner with sound she has enjoyed exploring the strong connection between thoughts, emotions and their manifestation in the physical body and how the healing effects of sound and vibration bring the body, mind and spirit back to equilibrium.
She has also enjoyed developing methods for working with animals; in particular, horses which are very sensitive to vibration and benefit hugely from this therapy.
Karen is a fully certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and finds her daily yoga practice and study of yoga philosophy integrate well with her work in sound. She has always been very musical and enjoys playing the piano classically. She believes that her love of music and its theory also enhances her work with sound.
